Job Summary The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month-end close, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting knowledge, proven experience supervising accounting staff, and mandatory experience within Duty Free retail operations. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting business decision-making. Responsibilities · Supervise, mentor, and manage accounting staff, ensuring workload alignment, accuracy, and professional development · Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and cash management · Lead and own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements · Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and management reports · Perform and review complex balance sheet and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies · Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements applicable to Duty Free retail operations · Manage accounting processes specific to Duty Free stores, including inventory accounting, customs-related reporting, and cross-border transactions · Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies; prepare audit schedules and documentation · Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with leadership · Review, enhance, and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls · Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and ensure timely issue resolution · Partner with cross-functional teams (operations, procurement, store management) to support financial accuracy and reporting · Ensure accurate fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and capitalization policies Qualifications Qualifications (Required) · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field · 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role · Mandatory experience working with Duty Free retail stores · Proven experience performing and reviewing account reconciliations and leading month-end close · Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements · Experience with retail inventory accounting and multi-location operations · Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills · Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills · Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently Preferred Qualifications · CPA certification (active or in progress) · Experience with multi-entity or multi-location accounting environments · Experience with international transactions, customs regulations, or cross-border operations · Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
