Senior Accounting Manager - New York City - HVAC Engineering
Our team is working with a leading HVAC manufacturing & distribution company looking to hire a Senior Accounting Manager to their growing team. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Manager will oversee general ledger reporting, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards, and leading critical areas such as ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 lease accounting, and fixed asset management. The Senior Accounting Manager will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, driving process improvements, and supporting the company’s monthly and quarterly close cycles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, and IFRS standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise in general ledger reporting and accounting operations.
  • Experience with fixed asset management and depreciation schedules.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Workday) and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee general ledger reporting and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
  • Manage accounting processes related to ASC 606, including revenue recognition policies, contract reviews, and reconciliations.
  • Lead ASC 842 lease accounting compliance, ensuring proper recognition, measurement, and disclosures of lease obligations.
  • Develop, maintain, and review depreciation schedules for fixed assets, ensuring compliance with company policy and accounting standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with both U.S. GAAP and IFRS requirements.
  • Support and improve accounting operations processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address technical accounting matters.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and strengthen reporting accuracy.
