Description

Are you an accounting professional with a passion for wildlife conservation? Consider joining the Accounting team as we support the programs carrying out the mission of the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), this position performs the more difficult professional accounting duties related to the management of federally funded grants, cooperative agreements, and reimbursement contracts. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing monthly FI$Cal expenditure reports to request drawdowns, adjusting indirect and direct charges, preparing remittance advices for submission to the State Treasurer’s Office (STO), and providing Statewide Cost Allocation Plan (SWCAP) data to management. The position posts State Controller’s Office (SCO) journal entries for assigned grants, reconciles the Federal Trust Fund (0890) and SCO 1944 accounts, and prepares Plans of Financial Adjustment (PFAs). It also reconciles agency balances with federal balances and performs correcting entries as needed. Additionally, it involves preparing interim and final financial status reports, verifying expenditures, encumbrances, and matching activities, assisting with invoice resolution, supporting staff training, analyzing federal grants and reimbursements, and contributing to drafting or revising unit policies and procedures.
Headquartered in our new high-rise building located in downtown Sacramento, this position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs.

Working Conditions
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone. Standard office environment that involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. May be required to attend offsite meetings and trainings via private or public transportation. Time-off may not be granted during the year-end Financial Statement and Federal grant closing periods. Position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs.
