For a large international bank with operations across Europe, we are looking to strengthen the Finance team in Amsterdam with a Senior Accounting Specialist. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate monthly closings and driving process optimisation across multiple European entities. You will operate in a dynamic, multi-GAAP environment and serve as a sparring partner to senior finance leadership, contributing to both strategic and operational initiatives.

DESCRIPTION

Job Description
As Senior Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for managing accounting processes under both IFRS and US GAAP standards. You will support the Head of Accounting, coach junior and medior team members, and contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and procedures.
This is a strategic and hands-on role with significant exposure to cross-border operations and collaboration with teams in Germany, the UK, and other departments such as Operations, HR, and Regulatory Reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closings under IFRS and US GAAP
• Act as back-up to the Head of Accounting and support daily team operations
• Coach and guide junior and medior team members (team size: 9)
• Maintain and improve General Ledger integrity
• Collaborate on group reporting and present financial developments to senior management
• Ensure compliance with SOX and internal control procedures
• Respond to internal and external audit requests
• Document and improve accounting processes and controls

Your Profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in accounting or financial control
• RA/RC certification is a plus
• Experience in BIG 4 environments
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Power BI
• Proactive mindset with a focus on process improvement and automation
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Team player with leadership and coaching capabilities
