JOB DESCRIPTION

We are hiring for multiple roles to join and grow within our team (Senior Accounting Technician and Accounting Manager). As a member of the PTMG team, you will be working directly with our firm partners, staff and clients to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time. The ideal candidate has exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills. We are looking for people who can grow into a leadership role, who will mentor other team members and who are looking for a challenging professional position with the opportunity to progress within our firm.

Role and responsibilities (senior accounting technician)

• Plan and prepare client engagements (compilation, review and audit) preparing working papers, financial statements and tax returns
• Take ownership of multiple engagements for larger, more complex corporate groups
• Assist partners with specialty projects, such as estate planning, cash flows, rollovers, tax planning, etc.
• Prepare and review personal T1 returns, some of which require business or farm statements
• Prepare farm program applications for existing clients based on year-end financial information

Role and responsibilities (accounting manager)

Accounting managers will have similar responsibilities as above, in addition to the following:

• Plan and review client engagements by overseeing the completion of working papers, financial statements and tax returns
• Personal and corporate tax planning
• Provide ongoing support, training and feedback to team members to assist with their professional development
• Provide input into performance reviews

Qualifications (all candidates)

• Experience with CaseWare, CaseView and personal and corporate tax software is an asset
• Experience with Quickbooks Desktop, Quickbooks Online, SAGE 50 and AgExpert is an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work flexible hours and multi-task
• Committed to ongoing professional growth and development
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel)
• Candidates applying for a manager position should have 2+ years post CPA designation with recent public accounting experience or 5+ years experience working in a supervisory capacity at a public accounting practice
