GoodLaw Solicitors LLP are looking for an experienced Senior Accounts Assistant to join our lively Accounts team in Hove. We are a vibrant, friendly firm seeking the best talent to join and grow with us. Applicants will need to have experience working in an Accounts department within a law firm.

SKILLS REQUIRED

· Experience in a legal finance role, including experience of legal aid payments
· Working and current knowledge of SAR Accounts Rules and AML compliance
· Working and current knowledge of legal case management systems
· Substantial experience in an accounts-based role within a law firm
· Ideally ILFM or AAT qualified, or equivalent experience
· Ability to work to deadlines
· Ability to manage a high volume of transactions
· Good Excel skills
· Working knowledge of accounting software (Xero an advantage)
· Excellent attention to detail
· Ability to interact with clients and colleagues in an approachable, efficient way
· Willing to learn and can work as part of a team as well as independently

EXPERIENCE:

  • Accounts within a law firm (Required)
  • SRA Accounts Rules knowledge/understanding (Required)
  • Legal Aid knowledge (Advantageous)
Responsibilities

· Accurate and timely processing of supplier/purchase invoices
· Conduct regular office account reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
· Resolution of invoice and payment queries
· Maintain the integrity of the office ledger, making adjustments where necessary to ensure full compliance with firm policy and regulatory requirements (SRA & Accounting standards).
· Administration of staff expenses
· Support Head of Finance with month-end/ quarter-end & Year-end reporting
· Understand and ensure compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules
· Flag to Head of Finance any potential breach of SAR
· Answer incoming enquiries to the business and queries from colleagues
· Aged debt review and management
· Client ledger cover as needed
· Holiday cover for Accounts team colleagues
· Manage Legal Aid payments accurately, in a timely manner
· Ensure Office ledger is accurately maintained
· Support with timely month-end/ quarter-end and year-end processes
· Ensure all work adheres to requirements mandated by internal policy and our regulatory bodies
· Cover tasks for Accounts colleagues as volume or absence requires
