Senior Acquisitions Editor – Health and Health Sciences   Goodheart-Willcox Publisher, Experts in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and a proud employee-owned company, is seeking a Senior Acquisitions Editor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating and supporting product planning initiatives to revise existing products and support materials, as well as developing new products, supplements, and digital solutions that effectively compete in the market. We welcome candidates from any location within the U.S. to apply. Candidates located in the Chicagoland area will follow a hybrid schedule, working two to four days per month in our Tinley Park, Illinois office.   Our compensation is market based and takes into account a variety of factors including the candidate’s skill set, experience level, internal equity, and location. For this position, we anticipate the starting salary falling between $130,000 and $145,000 per year. In addition, the company makes a 10% contribution to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan and a 4% matching contribution to the 401(k).    What you’ll do: * Manage investment strategy toward profitability for a portfolio of products. * Identify qualified authors in targeted growth areas and recruit them to write for Goodheart-Willcox, building a portfolio of new product through author acquisition, new product development and successful product launch to drive list growth. * Develop product plans (rationale statements, TOCs, product differentiation / competitive advantage) in conjunction with authors and G-W Publishing team and help develop the vision for the product. * Work with editorial team on product development once a product has been signed. * Develop and reinforce manuscript schedule and deadlines. * Provide guidance and direction to authors and reviewers. * Identify reviewers for G-W products and work as a liaison with the reviewers and editorial teams. * Develop partnerships with credentialing organizations. * Travel (approximately 30%) to attend conferences and conduct on campus visits to recruit key stakeholders. What you’ll bring: * Bachelor’s degree required. * Minimum of 2 years of successful sales experience required. * Minimum of 5 years of successful product management and acquisitions experience required. * Experience in the K-12 education and Health and Health Sciences disciplines is a plus. * 6-7 years in the publishing industry in editorial, sales, and/or marketing, with at least 2 years at a senior level is a plus. * Experience in acquisitions, preferably technical or skill focused disciplines or the assigned markets. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office, collaboration software and digital tools. Additional skills integral for success: * Strong communication and negotiation skills. * Excellent organizational and project management abilities. * Creative thinking and problem-solving skills. * Knowledge of CTE standards and curriculum requirements. * Experience in digital product development and delivery. * Ability to interpret and apply data insights to inform product decisions. * Proficiency in using data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Survey platforms). Responsibilities
The Senior Acquisitions Editor will manage investment strategy for a product portfolio, identify and recruit authors in growth areas, and drive list growth through new product acquisition and successful launches. Responsibilities also include developing product plans, managing schedules, guiding authors and reviewers, and developing partnerships with credentialing organizations.
