POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Activity Center Coordinator, the Senior Activity Center Assistant/Bus Driver will assist in overseeing senior activities and daily operations of the program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, event planning and event setup/breakdown. The selected individual will also serve as a driver for the Humble Senior Transportation service within the City limits of incorporated City of Humble, providing transportation for seniors aged 55 and older. This role includes scheduling rider pick-ups and drop-offs at various locations throughout the City.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrates the ability to efficiently carry out clerical responsibilities, such as documentation, recordkeeping, and administrative support.
- Knowledge of basic budgeting and purchasing applications.
- Knowledge of equipment use and various games, sports, and other recreational activities.
- Understanding of principles and techniques of planning and leading group recreational activities.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of computer applications relevant to administrative and operational tasks.
- Proficient in operating standard office equipment, including copiers, scanners, and related devices.
- Excellent organizational, document management, record-keeping skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with citizens, vendors, City staff, and management personnel.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address and resolve concerns or complaints regarding the center and its programs in a timely and professional manner.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the street layout and geographic areas within the City of Humble.
- Must possess a friendly, approachable demeanor and demonstrate a caring, respectful attitude.
- Proficient in the safe and effective operation of tools and equipment utilized at the Senior Center.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish – Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in both languages.
- Three (3) years customer service experience.
- Must possess valid State of Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record for the past three years.
- Must successfully pass background investigation, physical, and drug screen.
- Prior experience working with senior citizens in a professional or community setting, but not required.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the first 6 months of employment.
- Experience driving bus or mini-van preferred, but not required.
