Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a curious, energetic, self-motivated, and well-rounded individual with the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities, to join us as a Senior Actuarial Analyst. The selected candidate will be a vital member of the New Business Development team. You will work directly with experienced actuaries and contribute on a wide variety of tasks. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing efficient and quality support to the Divisional 2nd VP, Divisional Account Executive. The individual will also demonstrate a high regard for confidentiality.
The Company has an Actuarial Analyst Development Program that provides support for actuarial exams.

Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Manage client account activities and monitor new business sales volume
  • Respond to client queries professionally and with discretion
  • Prepare and maintain sales materials, including market reports, presentations and proposals in a timely manner
  • Provide decision-making support to senior executives, including ad hoc research, risk assessments, and input on broader strategic considerations
  • Assess new business opportunities under different potential treaty structures (e.g., YRT, Coinsurance, Excess of Retention)
  • Monitor reinsurance market trends and activity
  • Support post-deal profitability analysis by evaluating actual performance against pricing assumptions and identifying underperforming treaties for review or repricing
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with treaty, underwriting, administration, claims, pricing and finance teams on treaty execution and new business monitoring
  • Provide ad hoc actuarial support to cross-functional teams, contributing actuarial insights, analysis and guidance
  • Maintain and update documentation and process materials to support the operations and knowledge continuity of the New Business Development Team
  • Lead various ad hoc projects as required

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related field
  • Completed 3 or more examinations of the Society of Actuaries
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of life insurance and reinsurance products
  • Familiarity with new business development processes in a reinsurance context
  • Analytical and strategic thinking – ability to combine actuarial rigor with strategic insight to support high-impact decisions
  • Knowledge of insurance products and GGY AXIS is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to produce high quality presentations and reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to engage effectively across all organizational levels
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Experience at a life insurance or reinsurance company would be an asset.
