Responsibilities

Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.
We are looking for a Senior Advisor – PMO to join the Gove Closure Program team, where you’ll play a key role in driving program visibility, alignment, and delivery across a complex and purpose-driven portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of Rio Tinto’s most significant legacy programs, supporting the transition of land, assets, and relationships in a way that creates long-term value for communities and stakeholders.
In this role, you’ll work closely with technical, operational, and strategic teams to coordinate integrated schedules, manage reporting cycles, and ensure risks and interdependencies are clearly understood and addressed. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and insight to a dynamic program environment—helping to shape how we plan, track, and deliver on our commitments.
We are an open, connected global team that includes some of the industry’s best and brightest minds. We offer competitive, performance-focused remuneration and a wide range of benefits to reward your contribution. With a global reach, the opportunities to develop and grow your career are broad and exciting.

Reporting to the Manager Closure Program and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Technical and Projects team, you will be:

  • Coordinate and maintain the integrated program schedule, ensuring alignment across workstreams and timely delivery of closure milestones.
  • Lead program reporting, providing clear, concise updates to governance forums and senior leadership.
  • Track and manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk across the program, ensuring visibility and accountability.
  • Support the development and implementation of PMO frameworks, tools, and templates tailored to closure planning.
  • Facilitate planning and reporting cycles and internal approvals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between operational delivery and strategic objectives.
  • Provide insights and analysis to support decision-making, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion consistency, transparency, and best practice in program delivery across all streams of work.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in program or project management within complex, multi-stakeholder environments—ideally in resources, infrastructure, or closure contexts.
  • Strong skills in schedule management, reporting, and risk tracking, with a keen eye for detail and interdependencies.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Confidence using program management tools and systems (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint) to drive visibility and accountability.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for a range of audiences.
  • A proactive mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement and practical problem-solving.
