Description

SENIOR ADVISER, TOWN

  • Unique and dynamic position working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Take your next step into this challenging and rewarding role
  • Use your project delivery skills to guide significant projects that will underpin the success of Nhulunbuy in a post-mining future

FINDING BETTER WAYS TO PROVIDE THE MATERIALS THE WORLD NEEDS.

We are looking for a Senior Adviser, Town to provide support to Gove Operations activities specifically relating to the transition of Nhulunbuy township to a post-mining future. Aligned with the end of mining operations towards the end of this decade, Traditional Owners have outlined a vision for the township of Nhulunbuy to remain a vibrant community and regional service hub for Northeast Arnhem Land.
The creation of Nhulunbuy occupies a special place in the journey towards Aboriginal Land Rights, and as such its transition to new ownership over coming years is especially significant. Town Transition is strongly assisted by the wider business, particularly project delivery and community relations.

Reporting to the Manager Town, you will:

  • Guide the delivery of projects related to the refurbishment, demolition and construction of assets, including existing housing and utilities infrastructure.
  • Work closely with Traditional Owners and Northern Territory Government agencies to ensure alignment between Rio Tinto’s and other parties’ activities
  • Support the Nhulunbuy Corporation Limited’s operational readiness for anticipated normalisation of council activities in the future
  • Sponsor the development, tendering and award of major contracts relating to the refurbishment of civil infrastructure
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders essential to the delivery of a successful transition
Responsibilities

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary or trade qualifications in engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in external stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in project management or delivery
  • Strong administrative skills combined with an ability to communicate professionally in verbal and written format
  • The ability to achieve pragmatic outcomes which balance cost, risk and complexity and involve multiple stakeholders
