Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have the opportunity available to join our Health Protection team as a Senior Advisor - Compliance in a permanent, full-time role. Senior Advisors are mid-level advisors with strong subject matter expertise, writing and relationship skills capable of leading a project of work.

The primary purpose of the role is to enable the delivery of NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) with compliance activities related to Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act (SSAA) as well as Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 and, through the provision of specialist advice on:

  • A national strategy, planning and training of targeted and evidence based regional regulatory activity.
  • Nationally consistent and effective systems and processes for regional delivery and reporting of compliance and regulatory activity including development of national standards of practice.

You come with experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice. You have some leadership experience that may include having designed and managed a project of work and resources.

  • A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification. (e.g. Law, Health, Public Administration, Compliance)
  • Subject matter expertise in Regulatory approaches and/or alcohol, Smokefree and Regulated Products legislation
  • Able to draw on relevant longer-term experience in a regulator/compliance sector, specific to the job and work demands, acquired over time - 3-5 years
  • Understanding & experience working in partnership with Pacific communities
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • An ability to build constructive and effective relationships with stakeholders to build a sound understanding of their operational environment and context
  • Ability to work in a complex environment
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentialit
