Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

This role purpose is to lead the delivery of technical payroll processes and system solutions for the payroll function. Drive and promote effective payroll processes and systems, and to continuously improve and drive global alignment across the payroll function.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides technical and process guidance to internal and external payroll team members where required.
  • Participates in a global Payroll Community of Practice to ensure global consistency in solution delivery for payroll processes.
  • Primary point of contact for outsourced providers in relation to process and system improvements.
  • Maintains a focus on continuous improvement to identify and implement improvement opportunities in the payroll process and technical solutions.
  • Manages implementation of RTBS system changes such as deployments, divestments, support packs and project delivery
  • Ensures the payroll system complies with labor laws, tax regulations, and other relevant legislation.
  • Coordinates with IS&T to resolve any system-related issues.
  • Represents the process and systems team in project delivery and global coordination.
  • Operates as primary point of contact for customer ad hoc requirements, where new functionality or system changes are required.
  • Establishes regular communication with customers to anticipate additional service requirements and changes.
  • Liaises with internal Rio Tinto partners as well as external parties to develop payroll solutions for delivery to the business unit customers.
  • Works with appropriate Groups (People Services and Areas of expertise) where required to exchange information and resources.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Qualifications and certifications in the following areas: ITIL and SAP.
  • Knowledge in multi country payroll and employee benefit experience focusing on Australia, USA, and Canada.
  • Experience in project, stakeholder and change management methodologies
  • Prior experience working with Spinifex is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI, Microsoft Power Apps, and ETL tools such as EasyMorph.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience, including automation, macros and VBA.
  • Data analysis skills and familiarity with analytical techniques.
  • Understanding of data security, data privacy, and experience working with sensitive data is essential
  • Experience in payroll systems testing, validation and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven technical skills in MS Office.
  • Proven interpersonal and organisational skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with various teams spread throughout many countries in a complex organisation.
  • Ability to build relationships and work constructively with internal and external stakeholders
