About the role Mater is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Advisor, Media and Communications to play a pivotal role in championing and elevating the Mater brand across Queensland. As the Senior Advisor, Media and Communications, you’ll champion and protect the Mater brand while leading high‑impact media activity across all sites. You’ll identify and amplify positive media opportunities, build strong relationships to support cohesive storytelling, and collaborate closely with senior leaders to advance Mater’s brand, reputation and corporate affairs objectives. Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation [https://www.ato.gov.au/tax-rates-and-codes/key-superannuation-rates-and-thresholds/super-guarantee] and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 [https://account.smartsalary.com.au/benefits-available?ercode=MML]  + access to many staff benefits!  [https://www.mater.org.au/group/careers/working-with-mater]  What you’ll be doing * Drive development and execution of an integrated media strategy aligned to group priorities * Maintain contemporary media policies, protocols and guidelines aligned with best practice * Lead creation of proactive, strategic media content including long‑form stories, opinion pieces, digital and broadcast opportunities * Identify and leverage emerging media platforms such as podcasts, blogs and digital publications * Provide timely, strategic media and issues‑management advice to senior leaders * Oversee consistent, audience‑centric content across traditional and digital channels to strengthen brand trust and engagement * Build strong internal partnerships to ensure communication alignment and best‑practice storytelling * Establish reporting frameworks to measure media performance against KPIs * Lead crisis and issues‑management communication with discipline, speed and clarity * Contribute to strategic planning and operational excellence within the Corporate Affairs and Growth portfolio About you You will have tertiary qualifications in media, communications, marketing or similar. You will also meet the below criteria: * Strong knowledge of the Queensland media landscape and journalist relationships * 5+ years’ experience in a comparable role, ideally in a complex organisation * Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-engagement skills * The ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver quality outcomes * Experience in health, research, education or philanthropy (advantageous) Why join us?
