The branch plays a critical role in enabling DIA to operate safely, securely, and effectively. Te tūnga | The role We are seeking an experienced Senior Advisor – Operational Security (Physical) to join the Property Operations team within Enterprise Services. In this role, you will work closely with DIA branches to design, implement, and uplift resilient physical security solutions that support business operations and align with legislative and government requirements, including the Government Protective Security Requirements (PSR). You will provide expert advice across physical security and incident response, lead the delivery of site security planning and assurance activities, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. This is a senior, influential role operating in a complex environment, requiring strong judgement, collaboration, and the ability to balance security outcomes with business needs. Ko ngā mea ka tukuna e koe | What you’ll provide Strategic and operational leadership across DIA’s physical security function Expert advice on physical security risk, resilience, and incident management Delivery of physical security outcomes including site security plans, threat and risk assessments, and security system upgrades Oversight of physical security testing regimes and assurance activities Development of security policies, guidance, SOPs, and governance advice Leadership of complex security incident responses involving multiple stakeholders Strong relationships with senior leaders, partners, and external agencies Nōu te rourou | What you’ll bring Demonstrated experience delivering physical security services in a complex or large organisation Strong knowledge of the Government Protective Security Requirements Proven ability to lead physical security risk assessments, site security planning, and incident response Experience developing security policy, governance papers, and operational guidance The ability to influence at senior levels and bring differing viewpoints together to reach pragmatic outcomes Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply abstract concepts to real-world business problems A collaborative working style and commitment to excellent customer service You will also be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level National Security Clearance.
