Senior Advisor - Prudential Policy Lead and shape prudential policy by developing robust regulatory frameworks while mentoring others and guiding high‑impact policy delivery. Permanent role based in Wellington or Auckland Central location with a flexible, hybrid working environment 5 weeks annual leave plus 15 wellness days Te tūranga – The role Join the Operational Resilience team within the Prudential Policy Directorate of the Financial Stability Group. The Operational Resilience team is responsible for developing policies that promote a sound and efficient financial system through promoting individual and system level resilience. The core roles of the team relate to policy requirements for regulated entities relating to operational matters, including governance, risk management, operational resilience, and branch operations. As a Senior Advisor, you will contribute to the leadership of the Operational Resilience team and lead the delivery of complex prudential policy and regulatory projects, providing expert, influential advice to senior decision‑makers. You will apply principles of good regulation to develop high‑quality policy, regulation, and legislative proposals, while mentoring others and strengthening capability and delivery across the directorate. In this role you will: Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex prudential policy, regulatory, and legislative projects. Prepare high‑quality written analysis, papers, and recommendations for senior review. Provide expert advice to the Board, Ministers, Committees, and senior leaders. Lead industry and external stakeholder engagement on prudential initiatives. Coach and mentor team members, managing workflow and ensuring quality outputs. Work with the team manager to support leading the work of the team. Collaborate across the Financial Stability Group and lead cross‑Bank initiatives. Maintain expert knowledge of prudential requirements and regulatory developments. Ō pūkenga – About you To be successful in this role you will bring: 15+ years’ professional experience in public policy, regulation, financial services, or a related field. Degree in economics, finance, law, or a related discipline. Deep understanding of the economy, financial system, and prudential policy settings. Proven track record leading and delivering complex policy or regulatory projects. Exceptional analytical capability, sound judgement, and ability to work in novel or ambiguous policy areas. Strong interpersonal skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and coaching or mentoring others. Sound judgement, holistic thinking, and ability to identify policy-relevant issues. Demonstrated knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Eligibility to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of NZ National Security Clearance.
