Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment to join our team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and monitoring Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) requirements, ensuring compliance with local legislative and regulatory obligations, as well as project and company standards.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all SH&E-related matters in the field and on projects
  • Identify and ensure compliance with company, project, and legislative SH&E requirements
  • Conduct daily inspections of contractor activities to verify adherence to SH&E policies, plans, and obligations
  • Perform visual inspections, report issues, and submit observation findings through the project reporting system
  • Follow up on close-outs within established timeframes to ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures across a wide range of environmental, health, and safety disciplines
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems, and procedures
  • Monitor and mitigate hazards and health risks present in the work environment
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints related to workplace hazards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in SH&E management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant SH&E field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent certification (required for candidates with Engineering or related degrees)
  • In-depth knowledge of SH&E legislative and regulatory obligations, particularly those applicable in the UAE
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and monitor compliance requirements
  • Extensive experience in conducting inspections, reporting issues, and following up on corrective actions
  • Strong familiarity with various environmental, health, and safety disciplines
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing effective safety and health programs
  • Excellent risk assessment and mitigation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for SH&E management and reporting
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement in SH&E practices
  • Decisiveness in addressing safety concerns and implementing corrective measures
