SENIOR ADVISOR WATER LITERACY & EDUCATION

This role has influence and accountability for the team that designs and delivers strategically aligned education programs, driving measurable improvements in water literacy among Sydney Water’s customers and stakeholders.
The Senior Advisor works closely with the Water Literacy and Education Coordinator, and the team is further supported by Education Officers, as well as project-based and casual staff as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and evaluation of high-quality community education programs
  • Develop and deliver the annual Water Literacy and Education plan aligned with the Sydney Water Strategy and associated strategic and operational business plans.
  • Research and map key education and community audiences and their development requirements.
  • For school-based audiences, ensure programs stay up-to date with relevant course curriculum requirements.
  • Lead regular reviews of the Community Education program, objectives and outcomes.
  • Realign priorities, channels and target sectors to meet strategy and business needs.
  • Research and develop continuous improvement plans for education programs and initiatives.
  • Lead the integration of digital literacy into program design and delivery, alongside water literacy, to reach and engage diverse audiences.
  • Manage the rollout of community education initiatives across key audience segments including the building and management of external partnerships and project-specific resources to improve water literacy throughout the broader community.
  • Work with the employee communications team to build water literacy awareness and capacity across Sydney Water.

About you

  • Minimum five-years’ experience in leading community education programs for a corporation or government
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly convey complex information to any audience
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, including strong team development, coaching, diplomacy and conflict management skills
  • Strong planning, influencing, negotiation, facilitation and issues management skills
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills – proven ability to develop rapport and credibility with business partners and colleagues
  • Understanding of the school education sector, including curriculum frameworks and how to apply adult and child learning principles
