Job Description As part of AECOM’s Transit & Rail business, the Senior AFC Expert will lead the planning, design, and implementation of Automatic Fare Collection systems for railway and metro projects. The role involves managing end-to-end AFC system lifecycles, ensuring technical compliance, and coordinating with stakeholders to deliver efficient, user-friendly, and secure fare collection solutions. The expert will act as a key technical authority, providing strategic guidance and hands-on expertise to ensure project success. Job Duties: • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AFC systems, including ticketing, validation, and payment infrastructure. • Define system architecture, technical specifications, and integration requirements for AFC systems. • Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and emerging technologies (e.g., contactless payments, QR codes, NFC, and mobile ticketing). Oversee AFC project lifecycles, from concept design to commissioning and operational readiness. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, systems, and IT teams, to ensure seamless integration of AFC systems with station infrastructure. • Manage vendor selection, procurement, and contract negotiations for AFC hardware and software solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Transportation, or Business Administration is preferred. Additional Information 15+ years of experience in the railway industry, with a strong focus on AFC systems. Proven track record of delivering AFC systems for metro, railway, or large-scale transit projects.
