We are seeking a Senior AI Developer (m/f/d) for a client in the southern Stuttgart area for a permanent, full-time position, starting as soon as possible. The client is an IT consulting firm with over 25 years of experience – very stable and modern, or in short: a great employer with excellent career prospects and a high percentage of remote work options. involves developing an internal product – NO external projects/assignments!

What's it about?

Currently, a modern web application for the education sector is being developed (an internal project of the IT consulting firm). For this project, the client is looking for a Senior AI Developer to help shape and technically advance the product from frontend to backend.

Your role: 

As a Senior AI Developer, you will be responsible for the conception, development, and productive operation of our LLM applications – from architecture and prototyping to scalable deployment. You will work closely with product developers, data and engineering teams, bringing technical depth and a pragmatic, hands-on mentality. Your

responsibilities will include:

- Designing and developing RAG pipelines and LLM applications with LangChain – from concept to production

- Setting up and operating vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, pgvector): embedding strategies, chunking, indexing, and retrieval optimization

- Monitoring and optimizing LLM workflows with LangSmith – tracing, evaluation, prompt optimization, and quality assurance

- Designing solutions based on transformer architectures, including selecting, fine-tuning, and integrating suitable models (open source and commercial)

- Optimizing for performance, cost, and latency in production environments

- Establishing technical standards, mentoring junior developers, and contributing to our AI roadmap.

You bring:

- Several years of experience in software development, including proven experience in AI/ML projects

- Solid understanding of transformer models and the fundamentals of large language models (LLMs): tokenization, embeddings, attention, context windows, prompting

- Confident handling of vector databases and retrieval augmented generation (RAG)

- Practical experience with the LangChain and LangSmith frameworks

- Very good Python skills; experience with APIs of common LLM providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) as well as open-source models

- Experience with cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD is advantageous

- Independent, solution-oriented work style and enjoyment of teamwork

- Very good German and English skills

- Experience with fine-tuning, LoRA/PEFT, or model quantization

- Knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps and evaluation frameworks

- Experience with agentic workflows, tool calling, or multi-agent systems

- Contributions to open-source projects or own publications
