Overview:
Salary Range: $105,628- $185,582
The Sr. AFF Manager leads and oversees all air import and export operations at the branch level, ensuring full regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and financial performance. This pivotal role supports both tactical execution and strategic development across customs services, branch procedures, vendor negotiations, and client onboarding. The role collaborates directly with branch leadership, sales teams, and GHQ-ARM members to drive innovation and profitability in AFF.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Import Management to ensure efficient and compliant import procedures and work in alignment with the Brokerage Manager for clearance procedures.
  • Maintain alignment with federal, international, and corporate regulatory standards.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and strategic oversight on import requirements and corrective action plans.
  • Implement and maintain audit programs and SOPs for consistent import compliance.
  • Ensure department KPI’s are maintained and deliver tailored training programs for staff across the import function.
  • Collaborate with Air Export & Gateway Managers to continuously refine branch export workflows, build and maximize a Gateway network, & regional consolidation program.
  • Align export processes with evolving legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee development of customer-specific export handling procedures, especially during onboarding.
  • Analyze procurement strategies to uncover opportunities for cost savings and vendor efficiency.
  • Support new business acquisition and account growth through RFQ processes.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Branch Management to enhance service offerings and revenue generation.
  • Liaise across business units and headquarters to optimize space, cost, and operational structure.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and ensure branch targets are met or exceeded.
  • Supervise shipment accounting, vendor payables, receivables, and profitability reporting.
  • Assist in pricing strategies with carriers and third-party logistics providers.
  • Oversee claims management processes with attention to responsiveness and documentation.
  • Directly manage Import, Export, and Gateway Managers, including hiring, development, and performance management.
  • Ensure all supervisory activities adhere to organizational policies and legal requirements.
  • Serve as a critical escalation point for operational emergencies and strategic decision-making.
  • Foster relationships across departments and external vendors to ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in international freight forwarding/gateway/Logistics, including 4+ years in a management role.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills or sales skills with the ability to grasp extensive knowledge while dealing with a variety of people.
  • Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding business.
  • Must have organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have strong intention to involve problem solving.
  • Must have the ability to compose letters, memos, emails and other written documentation clearly and concisely. Be able to present oneself in a highly cooperative and professional manner when meeting both internal and external customers and vendors face to face.
