ABOUT YOU

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Postgraduate degree in biostatistics or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of health data and the NSW (or Australian) health system
  • Extensive experience in the use of data management and statistical analysis software, including proficiency in R, SQL or similar programming languages. Demonstrated capability to learn new tools / software.

A Senior Analyst / Biostatistician provides expert advice, data analytics and support on a full range of projects, strategies, and issues to contribute to population health and broader public health objectives.
Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Performing statistical analysis, including using linked data, for priority projects in the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence and Population and Public Health Division
  • Providing timely expert biostatistical advice and support regarding the analysis and interpretation of population health indicators for performance monitoring and public reporting
  • Developing statistical / analytical programs for data analysis, reporting and visualisation for surveillance purposes from health administrative data systems
  • Supporting the development of statistical systems for the warehousing and curation of health administrative data for epidemiological use
  • Preparing technical advice, reports, presentations and other correspondence (including ministerial briefs) to disseminate insights gained from data analysis and inform decision making
  • Leading and contributing to the development of a range of data and analysis capability building activities for NSW Health staff
