WE ARE LOOKING FOR A CANDIDATE WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  • Professional accounting designation (or currently working towards) - CMA, CGA, CA.
  • Three to five years of experience in related field.
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English. Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Knowledge and experience in all areas of financial reporting and accounting, IFRS, financial legislation, corporate policies and procedures, and government funding issues, sufficient to oversee, complete or assist in complex in-depth analysis of any area, and to recommend changes to policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Proven experience with various software packages in delivering reports and projects, including SAP, IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) and Cognos Analytics.
  • Capacity to interpret and reorganize data and information of a complex nature for presentation to all levels of management, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability and skills to make recommendations in writing and graphically illustrating regular and ‘ad-hoc’ internal and external reports for senior management and the Board of Directors and for developing new formats for the financial statements and notes, as required.
  • Good leadership qualities and be capable of working with various levels of management and in situations either as a team leader or team member.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines, involving complex analysis (with frequent interruptions).

Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinates activities within projects through Analysts or teams of Analysts assigned to the projects by Directors or Corporate Managers.
  • Conducts detailed and complex analysis of financial and non-financial data.
  • Follows-up with Corporate Services and Finance staff to obtain additional information and/or to clarify issues and figures contained in submitted financial reports.
  • Provides specialized advice, guidance and direction to all Finance offices in matters pertaining to above areas of activity.
  • Monitors adherence to policies, procedures and guidelines, identifies deviations and inconsistent applications and makes recommendations for updates and changes where required.
  • Monitors adherence to internal controls, identifies and analyzes deviations and problems caused and makes recommendations for corrective action to ensure the integrity of data in the books of account.
  • Through ongoing reviews and analysis of accounts and financial data in the general ledger, as well as contracts and agreements and other financial statements, assists and contributes to the assurance that the official books of account of the Corporation are properly maintained. Undertakes special topical research as necessary to compliment, support and complete such statements.
