Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter who works well in a team as well as with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Quality driven and detail oriented
  • Knowledge of financial accounting processes, policies, controls and systems
  • Strong business acumen, with an ability to focus on continuous improvement
  • Good problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills; can see the “big picture” in a complex environment
  • Exposure to public company reporting environment would be an asset
  • Proficiency in D365, SAP, Hyperion Financial Management and Smartview would be an asset, but not require
Responsibilities

ROLE:

The Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting is an integral role within the Financial Reporting Department which is responsible for the internal and external financial reporting for GWL. This includes the periodic consolidation, preparation of published quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A as well as financial accounting, periodic management reporting, annual budgets, forecasts and three-year plans.
This position provides insightful analysis to senior management and the Board of Directors with regards to the consolidation of the various business units.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare consolidation entries and support the Company’s periodic consolidation process;
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual shareholder reports, including MD&A and financial statement notes as well as the preparation of working papers and supporting documentation;
  • Prepare legal entity and other financial statements, as required;
  • Assist in the annual GWL consolidated budget and three year plan process;
  • Prepare various quarterly consolidated reports to senior management and Board of Directors;
  • Prepare analysis of periodic results to senior management providing insightful commentary and variance analysis of results;
  • Review periodic and quarterly divisional submissions, including continuity and other supplemental schedules;
  • Prepare system-generated reports and use other analytical tools to aid in internal and external reporting requirements; and
  • Ad-hoc projects as required.
