SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supporting senior leadership in all aspects of investment fund operations, including management and oversight of fund accounting, distributions, tax reporting, audit, administration, process improvements, and enhancing the department’s analytical capabilities to support stronger business decisions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related discipline.
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in the mutual fund industry.
Strong knowledge of the Canadian investment fund industry and mutual funds.
Professional designation such as CPA (or in progress).

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong accounting knowledge (fund accounting experience preferred).
Advanced mathematics and computer skills, including proficiency in Excel.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management abilities.
Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
Capable of managing multiple deadlines and working under time constraints.
Discreet and able to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Adaptable and able to work in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
Demonstrated initiative and commitment to process improvement.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Effective team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Fluency in English required.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Fund Oversight
Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting, custody, tax, and financial reporting functions outsourced to a fund administrator.
Coordinate and review monthly and annual distributions for all funds and unit trusts.
Coordinate semi-annual and annual financial statement preparation under IFRS, including portfolio risk calculations, analysis, and commentary.
Participate in monthly oversight and regular due diligence meetings with the fund administrator.
Prepare required reporting and reconciliations.
Regulatory and Administrative Duties
Manage regulatory documentation required for fund operations, such as market openings or tax reclaim declarations.
Prepare tax filings related to the funds, including GST/HST calculations and SLFI returns.
Prepare Management Expense Ratio (MER) calculations for review, including monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing the accounting and allocation of fund expenses.
Provide support during annual fund audits.
Monitor fund valuations and oversee the fair valuation process to ensure NAV accuracy.
Prepare internal reporting and meeting materials for oversight committees as required.
Participate in ad-hoc projects as assigned.
