SMBC is a major international bank with a leading position in the Loan Capital Markets / Syndications, Global Markets and Treasury, Corporate Banking, Project Finance, Financial Institutions and Sponsored / Leverage Finance markets. Due to expansion, we have an exciting opportunity to join the Market & Liquidity Risk Management team. Reporting to the Executive Director, Market & Liquidity Risk Management, this position will produce Risk and Liquidity Report of Market Risk Management for the Australia branch and Head Office. The position will also maintain close communication with Global Markets Treasury to understand daily activity and impact to market risk and liquidity exposures.

Responsibilities

THIS POSITION WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Preparation of daily Market Risk Reports (e.g. Position limit, Profit and Loss Report).
  • Preparation of daily, monthly and quarterly LCR Report and ensure its submission to APRA occurs on a timely basis.
  • Prepare ALCO and RMC reporting packs on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and semi-annual Head Office Reports.
  • Drive process improvements by automating manual processes using visual basic programming techniques.
  • Undertaking Market/ Liquidity risk analysis and provide inciteful commentary for the purposes of ALCO reporting.
  • Consultation with and timely response to senior management regarding MLRM matters.
  • Involved in project work as required.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Familiar with the prudential standards APS210 - Liquidity, APS117 – Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book & APS116 – Traded Market Risk.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience working in Risk Management or another Middle Office environment.
  • Previous exposure to Market Risk sensitivity and P&L report.
  • Familiarity with Treasury financial products and their uses.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Access to solve numerical problems, perform analysis and reconciliation.
  • Intermediate VBA macro programming with the ability to troubleshoot macro related issues by deciphering existing code.
  • Experience producing reports through gathering data, calculating results and validating results against expectations.
  • Self-motivated, able to work accurately and efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexibly according to needs of SMBC Australia branch.
