JOB SUMMARY
Ofgem is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Networks Directorate and help shape the regulation of the electricity and gas infrastructure that underpins the UK’s journey to Net Zero.
You’ll lead on the analysis of network company performance, taking ownership of complex workstreams that influence regulatory decisions on multi-billion-pound investment plans. This is a high-impact role where your insights will help ensure networks deliver value for money, resilience, and sustainability.
Bringing a strategic mindset and strong analytical capability, you’ll work across teams to assess cost efficiency, monitor outputs and incentives, and shape future regulatory approaches. You’ll also contribute to the development of methodologies and provide expert advice that supports the UK’s transition to a decarbonised energy system.
This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in the RIIO-3 price control programme one of the most significant regulatory frameworks in the energy sector. You’ll also support the ongoing monitoring of the current RIIO-2 regime, ensuring continuity and robust oversight as we transition between control periods. As your experience grows, you’ll lead on the assessment of company submissions, apply cost assessment methodologies, and help implement new funding mechanisms and incentives.
We’re looking for someone with excellent analytical skills (interpreting both qualitative and quantitative data), sound judgement, and a talent for translating complex data into clear, concise briefings. You’ll need to be confident managing multiple stakeholders, working independently, and communicating effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners. You will have strong Excel skills and be comfortable working with large datasets to support robust, evidence-based decision-making.
You’ll also bring strong policy analysis and writing skills, with experience supporting decision-making through clear, well-evidenced recommendations. Strong project management skills are essential, as you’ll be expected to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
At Ofgem, you’ll be part of an inclusive, forward-thinking team that values curiosity, collaboration, and public service. We support flexible and hybrid working, offer a competitive benefits package, and provide an environment where your work contributes to a greener, fairer energy system.
We have a critical purpose to ensure that energy networks deliver for consumers and the environment. In this role, your insights will help shape the future of energy regulation and support the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
