Role profile: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Workday Systems Engineer to join our People Engineering team and lead the design, development, and optimization of People Operations Engineering Processes, Security Architecture, Authentication Policy Design in our Workday platform. This role will serve as a technical expert with hands on technical expertise around Security Architecture, Cross Functional Processes, Mass Data Management, Authentication Policy Design, Setup and will partner with the People function, Procurement and other stakeholders to design, develop and implementation of smooth, scalable, secure solutions, aligned with business goals and focused on delivering a best-in-class user experience. ROLE SUMMARY: System Design & Architecture: Lead the technical design and configuration of Workday Solutions – specialising in security architecture, authentication and cross functional services. Enhancements: Manage Workday functionality implementations, upgrades, and feature rollouts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions. Support & Maintenance: Manage advanced troubleshooting and support for Workday issues with focus on identifying the opportunities to reduce the overall support cases. Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement. Lead the Testing workstream and collaborate with stakeholders to manage end to end testing Governance & Compliance: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Maintain documentation for system configurations, integrations, and processes. Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor more junior Workday engineers. Act as a liaison between technical teams and business customers. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Partner with People Functions teams to gather and analyse requirements for security configurations. Assess existing security architecture and deliver expert recommendations to ensure robust, scalable, and compliant solutions. Partner with internal teams and external vendors (when required) to support defining scope, requirements, timelines, and deliverables. Build sustainable, efficient, and easy to follow setup, solutions in Workday – predominantly in the security architecture, cross function services and authentication. Lead the testing workstream, ensuring end-to-end test planning, execution, and coordination. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive comprehensive testing strategies and deliver high-quality outcomes. Single-handedly manage all phases of the project lifecycle as you run configuration projects. Support training, testing, and user adoption activities to ensure successful rollout and sustainability. WHAT YOU'LL BRING: Essential Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field. 5+ years of hands-on experience with Workday, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role. Experience must be in Workday HCM/Security with solid understanding of advanced security setup, solutions, authentication via SSO, Oauth etc, Solid understanding of Workday business processes. Understanding of Workday integrations and reporting. Experience with Workday releases and change management processes. Ability to handle own projects through all stages Desirable Skills Workday certifications in one or more modules. Experience with Workday Extend. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Asana or ServiceNow. Soft Skills Proactive, diligent, and highly organised. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Superb communication and customernagement. Collaborative approach with a passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and quality user experience.
