Description

This is a key role predominantly supporting the private credit business line of the Investment and Development (I&D) team to deliver commercial, environmental and social value for the shareholders of Grosvenor Property UK (“GPUK”). The role is responsible for analysing exciting new lending opportunities across our portfolio of loans (from origination to repayment), as well as producing high quality management and financial information on the performance of the team and the portfolio. This provides the senior leadership and Executive teams with the insight and understanding to inform decision making and enhance business performance.
With great access to senior individuals in the business, this role offers the opportunity to influence business outcomes through accurate and relevant analysis of past and future performance. The timely identification, interpretation and communication of key themes and drivers of business performance will be a critical success factor.
The role plays a key part in understanding the drivers of growth and profitability for the I&D business whose objectives are to grow their contribution to Grosvenor Property UK’s recurring income targets. The lending business is a critical part of this growth strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in a large, multi-sector property investment and development business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the private credit team with the analysis of business opportunities, deal structuring and screening; in particular,
  • Responsible for the credit process through the lifecycle of loans (credit ratings, hurdle rates, financial analysis, financial due diligence, annual reviews)
  • Assisting the team with end-to-end deal execution, including critical review of IMs and DD, term sheet and Facility Agreements, with a particular view to credit risk and how to structure the loans
  • Risk identification and mitigations
  • Reviewing and inputting into IC reports, presenting to investment committee and commercial negotiation where required
  • Building and maintaining robust governance, systems and processes around managing an expanding loan book
  • Being a critical and highly valued partner, helping the team to understand, communicate and enhance their performance and the risks and opportunities in achieving it; this should include coaching and training the team where appropriate (including communicating complex financial concepts in a comprehensible manner).
  • Providing portfolio analysis that drives new levels of insight and commercial challenge to the team on their performance, with particular focus on stress testing and understanding the project and portfolio risk profile. This will include providing actionable recommendations to covenant breaches etc to optimise portfolio performance.
  • Develop and maintain financial models that assist in evaluating investment scenarios, conducting sensitivity analyses, and assessing potential outcomes under various market conditions.
  • Support the annual budget and strategic planning, providing insight and challenging the direction for the team over the short, medium and long term. Ensure business stakeholders understand and own their numbers in order to facilitate high-quality discussions, at team and executive level.
  • Accountable for the quarterly forecasting and periodic KPI processes for the lending and residential components of the team (this will also include Grosvenor’s legacy residential portfolio which is winding down)
  • Work with the Grosvenor finance centre to support the production of all statutory and management reporting and build appropriate technical knowledge to enhance outcomes
  • Maintain documentation on agreed processes and actively identify and implement ways to improve processes, particularly in line with Grosvenor Property UK’s environmental and sustainability goals (including in our counterparty due diligence and financial analysis).

Key Requirements

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or overseas equivalent)
  • Experience of working in a large private or listed business. Lending experience is essential, whilst property sector experience is highly advantageous.
  • Experience of finance business partnering – able to challenge performance, recommend improvements and demonstrate strategic thinking
  • An ability to drive organisational change and transformation to continuously improve performance and processes.
  • Highly commercial with a strong appreciation of value, quality and risk
  • Strong experience in simplifying, designing and delivering business reports to a range of internal and external stakeholders including excellent written communication.
