  • Fixed term until the end of September 2026
    Mō te tūranga | About the Role
    This newly created role will lead the data strategy and modelling for the Westpac Paperless Programme. The Paperless Programme is a multi-year, strategic programme of work that delivers a variety of pan-bank initiatives to materially reduce the volume of paper that Westpac consumes.
    This role is responsible for defining how the Paperless Team uses the data and developing high-impact models to support the programme to prioritise and design the initiatives to best deliver on programme KPIs, alongside supporting the existing data and marketing teams with the design and delivery of the initiatives themselves. Key responsibilities include:

Deep-Dive Analysis & Data Support

  • Conduct in depth deep-dive data analysis of product landscape, customer behaviour and financial impact in relation to statement format settings
  • Build out a self-service data pipelines/asset suite, allowing non-analyst project team members easier access to a flexible, curated and secure data environment for sizing and simple queries
  • Support on adhoc queries, campaign execution and exec level presentation preparation

Consultative Strategy Development & Recommendations

  • Present deep-dive analysis findings, using data to tell the story of the current state of play with a particular focus on surfacing opportunities and barriers
  • Prepare a comprehensive data strategy proposal for migrating customers from paper statements while minimising disruption and maximising benefits across both the short- and long-term pathways.

Stakeholder Engagement & Data-led Influencing

  • Present findings to key stakeholders, translating technical insights into actionable strategies
  • Lead workshops and discussions, ensuring alignment on data interpretation and strategic opportunities
  • Train cross-functional teams on self-service analytics suite and support on refinement

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • 5+ years’ experience in using Analytics tools to deliver business insights
  • Strong SAS/SQL programming experience
  • Consultative background would be advantageous
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with confidence and influencing decision-making. Must be comfortable making direct recommendations and advocating for a data led approach
  • Experience working with complex data and using this to roll up to high level, macroscopic level view
  • Ability to manage and build relationships with stakeholders
  • Solid verbal and written presentation skills
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry including working knowledge of banking products and metrics
