Mō te tūranga | About the Role Working in the Financial Crime Intelligence and Insights Team, you’ll play a key part in ensuring Westpac’s sanctions risk management environment is supported through robust assurance of the sanctions detection system. This role requires you to develop a deep understanding of how the sanctions detection system operates, becoming the subject matter expert for all aspects of its functionality and performance. You will update the model as required, undertake model assurance, and identify opportunities to optimise detection capability. You will also be responsible for running and uplifting operational and compliance sanctions reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business need. In addition, you will provide guidance and mentoring to more junior team members, helping to build capability and share specialist knowledge. This is a highly specialised role offering varied and challenging work in a critical risk domain. This role ensures Westpac’s sanctions detection system is accurate, efficient, and resilient - protecting the organisation from regulatory breaches and reputational risk. By becoming the SME for sanctions analytics and model assurance, you will directly influence how we safeguard our customers and meet compliance standards. Key responsibilities will include: Undertaking the assurance of the sanctions detection system to ensure efficiency and compliance without introducing unacceptable risk Becoming the SME for the sanctions detection model, understanding its design, logic, and operational performance Running and enhancing operational and compliance sanctions reporting Driving improvements to detection methodologies and system configuration Collaborating across the team and enterprise to strengthen Westpac’s sanctions risk management framework Mentoring and supporting junior team members to develop technical and analytical capability Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
