POSITION DESCRIPTION:

FlexGen is seeking a skilled Application Engineer to support data center-related project development, pre-sales, and engineering services in energy storage. This role requires a technical expert who can take ownership of pre-sales engineering topics, collaborate with internal teams, and provide guidance on energy storage system (ESS) solutions tailored for data center applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of power systems, energy storage integration, and grid technologies, enabling them to support system design, interconnection, and market analysis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy storage, power systems, or a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of inverter-based resource technology and associated control strategies.
  • Proven ability to conduct power system analyses, system integration, and energy storage system optimization.
  • Experience in project management and customer support, particularly in the energy storage or power industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in inverter control, power plant controller dynamic modeling, and simulation.
  • Familiarity with energy market structures, interconnection processes, and grid compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with data center power infrastructure and microgrid solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of data center power and energy requirements and their relationship with energy storage applications.
  • Design, configure, and integrate energy storage systems for various applications, including commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between customers and FlexGen’s internal teams, supporting system design, interconnection processes, and market analysis with a focus on data center use cases.
  • Conduct technical assessments and performance analyses of energy storage systems to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with the business development team, providing technical expertise in customer meetings, presentations, and proposal development.
  • Assist in identifying strategic opportunities for energy storage in data centers and support the business development team in shaping new market strategies.
  • Support the contract negotiation process, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and business objectives.
  • Provide training and technical support to customers and internal teams on energy storage solutions and best practices.
