This is the job We are looking for a Senior APM (Application Performance Monitoring) Engineer to join our team and lead the performance monitoring strategy for a major enterprise client. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, tuning and support of APM solutions across complex, large-scale software and infrastructure deployments. This is you 7+ years of experience in performance engineering, APM, SRE or similar roles; Deep expertise with APM platforms (e.g. Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, Datadog) and monitoring tools; Strong understanding of JVM internals — GC, memory/heap tuning, thread dump analysis; Solid knowledge of database performance tuning, query optimization, and infrastructure performance; Confidence in analyzing complex stacks (application servers, web servers, middleware, DB, infrastructure) end-to-end; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Good communication skills, ability to explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; Nice-to-have skills: Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, microservices, CI/CD and observability tooling (metrics, logs, tracing). This is your role Own and lead the architecture, deployment, configuration and maintenance of enterprise-level APM solutions; Define and monitor KPIs, SLAs and SLOs for performance and reliability; build dashboards and reporting for stakeholders; Act as primary escalation point for performance incidents; perform deep root-cause analysis across the full stack; Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and propose optimizations in code, database queries, infrastructure or configuration; Collaborate with development, DevOps/SRE, QA and product teams to embed performance best practices across SDLC; Mentor other engineers on performance engineering, APM usage, and best practices; What awaits you at Avenga?
