Description

We are seeking a seasoned AS/400 COBOL Programmer with a strong background in designing, developing, and maintaining robust applications on the AS/400 platform to assist us with the development and maintenance of our Vision Benefit Application and core business processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a high level of competency in designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and supporting production-quality COBOL applications.
  • Expert knowledge of COBOL, SQL, DB2, CLP, Stored procedures and iSeries.
  • Experience with iSeries and performance analysis are a plus.
  • JAVA experience is a plus.
  • BS in Computer Science or related field/degree, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with managed care health programs and the insurance industry is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and enhancement of the Vision Benefit application.
  • Evaluate user requests and document the functional specifications.
  • Develop the required functionality through the entire SDLC (Coding, Unit testing, QA testing, Documentation, Implementation, User training).
  • Assist in QA testing if questions or negative results occur.
  • Accurately monitor and reconcile monthly production processes.
  • Develop customized reporting and or extracts as requested by clients & internal users.
  • Prepare documentation describing design, coding, and comprehensive testing scenarios.
  • Provide off-hours support for releases as needed.
  • Troubleshoot production related issues.
