We are seeking a Senior Laboratory Analyst with experience in asbestos and mold analysis to join our Burnaby-based team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated professional looking to take on a leadership role and grow within a company that has nearly 20 years of expertise in the hazardous materials industry.
We’re looking for someone ready to lead, train, and uphold high-quality standards in a lab setting while supporting the development of junior analysts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in PLM asbestos analysis in a laboratory setting
  • Proven experience identifying mold genera and concentrations via microscopy
  • Strong knowledge of NIOSH 9002, NIOSH 7400, and relevant ASTM methods
  • Solid understanding of BCOHSR Part 6 and other asbestos-related regulatory guidelines
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor team members
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently

Responsibilities
  • Perform PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy) analysis to identify asbestos fibers in bulk samples using stereo and polarized light microscopes
  • Conduct mold analysis through direct microscopic examination, identifying genera and concentrations
  • Follow NIOSH 9002 and NIOSH 7400 methodologies with precision and consistency
  • Maintain quality control procedures and ensure all lab work meets internal and regulatory standards
  • Lead and train junior laboratory staff in asbestos and mold analysis techniques
  • Ensure compliance with BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (BCOHSR), especially Part 6 – Substance Specific Requirements
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of QA/QC protocols
  • Support report generation and data entry using LIMS or similar systems
