SENIOR ASSET ENGINEER – PERTH OFFICE – PERMANENT FULL TIME

Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your expertise in asset management to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our network at Western Power?
Join our Asset Performance team and play a pivotal role in an exciting project that shapes the future of our network assets. In this position, you will be accountable for developing and applying best maintenance engineering practices and long-term strategies to deliver optimal life cycle performance of transmission substation assets.
This includes application of condition assessments, spares management, risk assessments, condition monitoring, operation and maintenance optimisation, and strategies for the optimum management of primary substations assets, particularly power transformers, instrument transformers, and switchgear consistent with Western Power’s and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Take accountability for safety, ensuring safe work practices and hazard control for staff and contractors, and promote use of Western Power’s Health and Safety systems.
  • Proactively maintain network assets to ensure reliability, supporting the OAM – Substations Team Leader to meet performance goals.
  • Develop and execute maintenance plans to meet outage and quality requirements, applying risk management protocols to mitigate system impact.
  • Manage change effectively, introducing new technologies, systems, procedures, and digital asset management practices to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Conduct technical analysis of asset performance and network maintenance needs, establishing programs for asset replacement and maintenance.
  • Set and communicate work priorities, ensuring the timely delivery of the 2-year operational production plan.
  • Monitor performance against work priorities, ensuring network performance targets are met within budget and time constraints.
  • Provide technical support to day-to-day operations and failure investigations to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the transmission network.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus, ensuring collaboration across all stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes.
