Responsibilities

An opportunity has arisen, within the Traffic Network Management Team, for a Senior Assistant Engineer with a proven track record of working in a complex Network Management environment. Traffic Network Management sits within the Network Management function that is part of the Council’s Highways & Infrastructure service, within its Neighbourhoods directorate.
The Council is required to effectively deliver the Liverpool City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement Combined Authority Transport Plan programme, that contributes to the reduction in the number and severity of road traffic collisions, making safer journeys for pedestrians and cyclists, and improving air quality. This role is fundamental in facilitating a programme of schemes that supports the strategic objectives of the Liverpool City Region Road Safety Strategy, the Network Management Plan, and the Council Plan 2023-2027.
Your role will be critical in the support and delivery of traffic signs and road markings and assist in the technical delivery/approval of traffic engineering projects including parking restrictions, movement orders, residents parking, and traffic management schemes ensuring compliance with current design guidance and legislation. You will assist in the management of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) process from inception to completion including the drafting of legal TRO schedules, production of technical drawings and management of TRO records.
The role will play a significant part in ensuring that the service responds effectively to the needs of local communities and other stakeholders; excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders is key.
