Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Weymouth Country Club Position Summary The Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent supports the Golf Course Superintendent in overseeing all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations. This leadership role helps ensure exceptional playing conditions, efficient staff management, and adherence to the club’s standards of excellence. The position requires strong agronomic knowledge, team leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to daily operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Turfgrass & Grounds Management Assist in planning and executing agronomic programs, including fertilization, irrigation, pest management, and cultural practices. Monitor turf health and course conditions to ensure optimal playability and aesthetics. Supervise course setup and ensure daily maintenance standards are met. Operate and oversee the maintenance of irrigation systems. Staff Supervision & Training Supervise and lead maintenance staff in daily tasks and long-term projects. Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating team members. Promote a positive, safety-focused work environment. Equipment & Facility Oversight Coordinate with the equipment manager to ensure proper maintenance of machinery. Monitor chemical storage, application records, and regulatory compliance. Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards. Administrative & Strategic Support Assist in budget preparation and cost control measures. Maintain accurate records of applications, weather data, and maintenance activities. Collaborate with the Superintendent on capital improvement projects and long-term planning. Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred. 3–5+ years of golf course maintenance experience, with supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of turfgrass species, pest management practices, and irrigation systems. Ability to obtain and maintain applicable state pesticide applicator licensing. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in turf management software and Microsoft Office applications. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Capable of lifting 50+ pounds. Early morning, weekend, and holiday work required as needed.
