ASSIST TEACHERS BY RECEIVING INSTRUCTIONS DIRECTLY FROM PROFESSIONAL OR SPECIALIST SUPPORT STAFF INVOLVED IN THE CHILDREN’S EDUCATION. THESE MAY INCLUDE SOCIAL WORKERS, HEALTH VISITORS, LANGUAGE SUPPORT STAFF, SPEECH THERAPISTS, EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGISTS, AND PHYSIOTHERAPISTS.

PURPOSE OF JOB
To act as Cover Supervisor, covering/supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. To work with withdrawal and small groups to provide support and intervention.
To lead a team of Assistant Teachers as required. To work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
To complement teachers’ delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils and Academy policies and strategies. To provide support for pupils, the teacher and the Academy in order to raise standards of achievement for all pupils (e.g. additional SEN, EAL, GT, FSM, underachievers), by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes.
CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL AIMS AND TARGETS OF THE ACADEMY, APPRECIATE AND SUPPORT THE ROLES OF OTHER MEMBERS OF THE STAFF TEAM
Attend INSET, appropriate training and relevant meetings as required and participate in the Academy’s performance management process
CARRY OUT ALL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WITH REASONABLE CARE FOR THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF YOURSELF AND ANY OTHER PERSONS WHO MAY BE AFFECTED BY YOUR ACTS OR OMISSIONS AT WORK AND TO CO-OPERATE FULLY WITH THE ACADEMY IN HEALTH AND SAFETY MATTERS.
