In business intelligence at PwC, you will focus on leveraging data and analytics to provide strategic insights and drive informed decision-making for clients. You will develop and implement innovative solutions to optimise business performance and enhance competitive advantage. As a Senior Associate - Data Governance, you will play a critical role in ensuring consistent, secure, and high-quality data management across the organisation. You will achieve this by orchestrating policies, processes, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, even without direct control over all resources. Reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to promote adherence to internal policies and local statutory requirements, while facilitating responsible data usage across business lines. Key responsibilities Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of data governance theory, standard methodology and practical considerations (ability to focus on “minimum viable governance”). Work cross-functionally to develop, implement, and continuously improve firm-wide data management processes, for example collaborate with: a) Legal and risk management: Ensure compliance with local data privacy laws (e.g., PDPA), regulatory requirements, and ethical AI principles. b) IT security: Align data governance with security policies and controls to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. c) Business units: Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders and data stewards to embed governance into business processes. d) Academy: Champion data literacy and governance awareness. Digital: Ensure governance is built into data platforms and integration architecture. Periodic engagement with global SMEs to align Network Data Policy (NDP) requirements, ensuring relevant information is cascaded to Data Committee members for information or further action. Connect with other territories and global SMEs to understand data governance best practices for adoption locally. Support Chief Data Officer on key initiatives, issues tracking and improvement plans including preparing relevant presentation materials. Focused on relationships, you are building meaningful client connections, and learning how to manage and inspire others. You are expected to anticipate the needs of your teams and clients, and to deliver quality. Qualifications & experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, IT, or a related field. 5 - 6 years’ experience in data governance, data management or related areas. Experience in professional services or regulated industries is an advantage. Certification in data governance (e.g., CDMP, DCAM) or data privacy (e.g., CIPP/A) is preferred. Key skills & competencies Core skills Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM). Proficiency in data management principles, including data quality, metadata, stewardship, and classification. Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g. PDPA, GDPR etc). Knowledge of data privacy, ethical AI, and information security controls. Other skills Experience working with cross-functional teams including risk, legal, digital, IT security and business units. Ability to influence without authority and navigate complex stakeholder environments. Understanding of data governance tools (e.g. Microsoft Purview), data lineage, data anonymization, data transformation tools preferred. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication. Self-starter with high attention to detail and commitment to compliance and data ethics.
