About GMNS Product Team As part of the Global Merchant & Network Services group (GMNS), the GMNS Product team is at the core of American Express, uniquely positioned to support every business unit and customer across the Enterprise. We are driving a strategic, multi-year Enterprise Payments program to bring all payments together into a centre of excellence to drive operational excellence for payment execution, enable innovative payment products, services, and capabilities to be built effectively and efficiently, support our BU strategies more closely, and deliver on our customers’ evolving payment needs. About the Role This Enterprise Payments Product Development role is an individual contributor role, responsible for building modern, scalable enterprise payment capabilities and supporting high quality, predictable delivery across global markets. This role partners closely with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering and Market teams to translate product strategy into robust and scalable product and platform solutions. This individual contribute to shaping how Enterprise Payments Products are designed, built and delivered, while supporting the modernization of legacy payment flows and the scaling of bank based money movement solutions globally. The role reports to the Sr Manager in the Payments India Centre of Excellence (CoE) and plays a critical role in transforming how payment platforms are developed at American Express. Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with Product teams to translate product strategies and roadmaps into technical capabilities and actionable delivery plans. • Develop capability release plans with key stakeholders, including Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Strategy, and Market teams. • Participate in the discovery and envisioning of new payment flows and bank integration capabilities that power key customer journeys across American Express. • Drive the definition and refinement of capabilities, features, user stories, and associated success criteria. • Define market specific platform requirements for inclusion in global platforms and market expansion release plans. • Develop the delivery strategy for modernization, including establishing playbooks for enablement expansion and scaling of modern payment capabilities across the globe. • Drive modernization of payment capabilities, including migration from legacy solutions to resilient, scalable, and cloud enabled platforms, where applicable. • Establish and monitor delivery and performance metrics to improve predictability, throughput, quality, and incremental value delivery. • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure clear communication, understanding, and alignment on product goals and progress. • Foster a collaborative culture within the organization focused on delivery excellence and doing things the right way. Requirements/Qualifications · 2+ years of experience in Product Development, Product Management, Strategy, Engineering or a similar role. · Experience partnering closely with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, with the ability to translate between business and technical contexts. · Highly organized, with strong individual initiative and accountability for driving results. · Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, make trade-offs, and drive execution at scale. · Ability to quickly recognize issues and determine appropriate paths to resolution through creative and effective problem solving. · Passion for payments and financial technology, with experience or exposure to Bill Pay, A2A payments, ACH, RTP, wires, or bank integrations. · High intellectual curiosity, with strong critical thinking skills and interest in solving complex problems. · Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver shared objectives. · Proven ability to drive change, and leverage scaled Agile practices to support successful product development and delivery. · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
