Responsibilities

ABOUT THE SENIOR ASSOCIATE GOVERNMENT AUDIT ROLE

The Senior Associate Government Audit role aids engagement team members on audit and other attest engagements. This role also includes accounting assistance to various governmental organizations, including counties, cities, towns, villages, fire districts and public authorities.
Senior Associates consistently deliver high-quality work, drawing on their proficiency acquired through job-related training and work experience. They complete assignments effectively under the supervision of engagement leaders, while actively developing competencies through ongoing development initiatives, training and hands-on experience. Senior Associates take accountability for diverse tasks with minimal guidance, utilizing initiative to anticipate events and situations.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Coordinate engagements and supervise associates in fieldwork and testing
  • Review of workpapers prepared by associates
  • Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with standards
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff with departmental methodologies and practice aids
  • Interact with clients to address queries, discuss findings, and provide recommendations
  • Adhere to firm operating procedures

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BRING WITH YOU:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Intermediate accounting skills
  • Advanced industry-specific knowledge
  • Understanding of AICPA, GAAP, GAAS and GASB standards and regulations, as applicable
  • Demonstrates an ability to lead engagements and engagement teams
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other programs utilized within A&A department
  • Excellent client service skills including the ability to make a connection and provide training
  • Ability to convey information clearly and effectively to clients
  • Proficient in analyzing and interpreting data, developing appropriate questions and formulating potential solutions
  • Proactive approach to serving team members, engagements and clients
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management, including governance
  • Financial Statement preparation experience
  • Ability to work both independently and in conjunction with a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience assisting clients with bookkeeping records
  • Ability to collect and interpret data
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
