The Senior Associate, Middle Office Operations will be primarily responsible for providing end-to-end support to the private equity investment team, from ongoing daily operations of assets to periodic reporting to various stakeholders. The role will be dynamic where adaptability to new requests and requirements will be the key to success. Preparation and review of various internal and external reporting as well as various layers of analytics will also be a core function. The role reports to the Manager, Middle Office Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support to internal teams in the management of the private equity portfolio, including performance calculations, attribution/exposure analysis, monitoring of industry benchmarks and peer universes, and participating in the preparation of client/external presentations.
  • Collaborate with the valuation and private equity teams quarterly to prepare valuation reports for direct and co-investments, including detailed commentary and valuation recommendations.
  • Prepare quarterly performance reports to fulfill both internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret multiple datapoints (AUM, Invested Capital, IRR, TWRR) for reporting purposes.
  • Contribute to annual emissions initiatives and perform ad-hoc/other duties as assigned.
  • Support system implementation efforts by gathering business requirements and assisting with test case development and execution.
  • Support cash forecast for investment capital activities to support liquidity management processes.
  • Analyze fund fees and investment-related expenses, providing insights into trends and opportunities.
  • Coordinate information flow from various parts of the organization to the investment team, looking for opportunities to improve the flow of information.
  • Develop, enhance, and document operational workflows and procedures as needed.

What you need to succeed:

  • A university degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • Relevant professional designation (CPA, CFA, CAIA) preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in private markets investments and operational environments, ideally within Middle Office, Valuations, Portfolio Analytics, Investment Finance, or Asset Management.
  • Prior experience with portfolio reporting and strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills is required.
  • Prior experience working with pension plans or other private equity investment management firms is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Private Market Investments and Private Market Valuations.
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality outputs in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to work to tight deadlines and the capability to handle multiple projects and ad-hoc requests simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with system implementation is considered an asset.
