This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Corporate & Commercial lawyer to join our law firm client - a highly regarded specialist law firm in Melbourne and work closely with a respected partner in a lean, collegiate team.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to an experienced partner, you will play a key role in advising a broad range of clients on corporate, commercial and strategic business matters. The role offers a high degree of autonomy, client exposure and responsibility, making it particularly attractive to a lawyer looking to take the next meaningful step in their career.

This position would suit a Senior Associate or Special Counsel with a strong background in Corporate M&A, Commercial, or Corporate Advisory work gained within a respected private practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in:

• Advising clients on mergers, acquisitions, disposals and other corporate transactions.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Providing corporate governance and general corporate advisory advice.
• Advising on shareholder arrangements, joint ventures and business structuring matters.
• Managing transaction processes, due diligence exercises and completion requirements.
• Building and maintaining trusted client relationships.
• Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers as the team continues to grow.
• Working closely with the partner on business development initiatives and strategic client opportunities.
• Supporting clients operating within the aviation, aerospace, maritime and logistics sectors on a variety of commercial and transactional matters.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Approximately 6+ years' post-qualification experience (although all strong candidates will be considered).
• A strong background in general commercial law and/or corporate M&A, corporate advisory.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and client management skills.
• A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
• The ability to work autonomously while also thriving within a collaborative team environment.
• A genuine interest in developing expertise within the aviation, aerospace, maritime and logistics sectors.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to play a meaningful role in the growth of the practice.
