With a busy pipeline of exciting projects locked in, we are inviting applications for a Planner seeking leadership opportunities to join our Tauranga office. We are searching for high performing Senior Associate level candidates with a real passion for planning and who have a collaborative, team based, and people focused, mindset. You will join Beca’s national Planning team, a 60-person team situated in Beca offices from Whangārei through to Dunedin. This team is known and respected for their work as trusted advisors on community shaping projects across the region and around Aotearoa New Zealand. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the values and culture of the wider Planning team, as well as sharing and building on your technical experience and knowledge. In this role you will be part of a team of experts, working closely with our Community Shaping team which includes environmental advisors, transport specialists, landscape architects and urban designers delivering projects for clients and the wider business. As a Senior Associate – Planning, you will be managing projects as Planning Lead as well as opportunities to lead multi-disciplinary teams and coaching juniors. You will be partnering with our clients, fostering and maintaining these relationships to understand their business, goals and objectives to work together to provide solutions. You will be expected to leverage your existing network to pursue opportunities to grow our offering into the market. Opportunities within this team include working with NZ Transport Agency, Tauranga City Council, Ministry of Education, Transpower to name a few as well as local authorities, government agencies and leading industrial and manufacturing clients. You will have plenty of scope for success in this role, with significant career development opportunities. Within this team you will have the scope to use the vast and collective expertise developed over 100+ years within Beca across a multiple of disciplines, to turn actions into reality offering our clients’ end-to-end solutions like few others can. Ko wai koe | About you You will be a Senior Associate level planner passionate about making a difference and looking for your next challenge. As a savvy, innovative and commercially minded professional you will be motivated to be part of, and strengthen, our growing planning business, with the ability to engage with clients leading to successful pursuit, bidding and winning of project commissions. Experience in consultancy is desirable. You will need to have a thorough knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 (as well as keeping up to date with the new Planning and Natural Environment Bills), with practical experience in statutory and strategic planning including regional consenting. This position requires excellent communication skills and a broad understanding of a range of disciplines related to planning matters as well as the ability to lead and coach junior staff and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams. You will also need to have the ability to engage effectively with clients, mana whenua, stakeholders, and the general public. You will have a tertiary qualification in planning and be a full member of the NZPI or working towards this.
