Opportunity to join CBA Global Markets, Institutional Sales team Influential role leveraging both analytical and client facing expertise Location: Sydney See yourself in our team Our Global Sales Team in the Markets business consists of around 130 people based in multiple centres across Australia, as well as offshore centres in London, New York, Amsterdam, Auckland, Hong Kong and Singapore. We are seeking a Senior Associate Desk Strategist specialising in High Grade and Interest Rates, who will join our team to provide insightful analysis, facilitate strategic discussions, and support the development of effective strategies. You will report to the Executive Director – Head of High Grade and Rates Sales, working closely with Sales, Trading, DCM, QDAT and independent Research teams to cover a wide range of clients across Institutional Banking & Markets. The Bank’s Institutional client base will be a major focus, including a mixture of Superannuation Funds, Asset Managers, Central Banks, Hedge Funds and other Financial Institutions. Do work that matters This position plays a leading role in establishing, developing and articulating CBA’s tactical views on Australia, New Zealand and global interest rate markets to the Bank’s staff and clients. Key tasks will include but not be limited to: Develop trade ideas and draft relevant, regular and timely notes with a view to more autonomous publication. This includes provision of interest rate & fixed income trade ideas, including bonds, semis, SSAs & various money market and swap instruments. A strong market awareness, incorporating strategic, quantitative and macro considerations required. Develop and maintain databases and presentation packs. Support further development of CBA market database and quantitative analysis (QDAT) with a view to systematically monitoring and developing trading opportunities. Liaison and support to Fixed Income & Rates Trading, DCM and Sales teams in line with compliance and regulatory guidelines. Contribution and adherence to CBA policies including confidentiality requirements, media and privacy policies alongside all compliance related protocols. Adding value to CBA’s clients and CBA’s internal Sales and Trading staff through the provision of timely strategy views and advice. Capacity to grow into front-line business representative who can help lift the profile of CBA with our key institutional, corporate and investor client base. Collaboration with the independent Research team. We’re interested in hearing from people who Are seeking to build and grow their existing experience from a similar role developed in investment banking, a corporate or institutional bank, funding or debt advisory firm. Further, you’ll bring: Experience in a similar role with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including numerical and verbal reasoning Strong influencing, presentation written & verbal communication skills. Excellent computer literacy, including coding, financial modelling, data analysis and econometrics. Good knowledge of global financial markets, particularly Australia, New Zealand, and US bond, option and interest rate markets and products.
