WHO WE ARE

The Nature Conservancy is a nonprofit corporation incorporated in 1951 and operated exclusively for educational, scientific, and charitable purposes. With over one million members, TNC alongside partners and communities, works in 81 countries, including many in Europe. TNC employs more than 6,000 employees.
The mission of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is to conserve the lands and waters upon which all life depends. As a science-based organization, we develop innovative, on-the-ground solutions to the world’s toughest environmental challenges so that people and nature can thrive. Our work is guided by our values, which include a commitment to diversity and respect for people, communities, and cultures. From a rewarding mission to career development and flexible schedules, there are many reasons to love life #insideTNC. Want to know more? Check out our TNC Talent playlist on YouTube to hear stories from staff or visit Glassdoor.
One of TNC’s primary goals is to cultivate an inclusive work environment so that employees around the globe have a sense of belonging and feel that their unique contributions are valued. We know we’ll only achieve our mission by hiring and engaging a diverse staff that reflects the communities in which we work. Recognizing that people bring talent and skills that have been developed outside the scope of a job, we take a holistic approach to recruitment that considers life experience in addition to the professional requirements listed in our postings. Please apply – we’d love to hear from you. To quote a popular saying at TNC, “you’ll join for the mission, and you’ll stay for the people.”
In Europe we work with governments, corporations and the finance sector to drive globally relevant strategies in Europe and from Europe through programs, partnerships and policy advocacy for transformational conservation impact. We manage a portfolio of strategically important conservation work in Europe that contributes to our global conservation agenda and accelerates conservation impact in Asia and the Pacific, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and North America. We work collaboratively and across political aisles, geographic borders and sectors with multiple and diverse stakeholders and decision-makers and are often seen as a trusted advisor and convener in our work with governments, business leaders, individuals and institutions.
TNC is a trusted advisor to several key European government agencies and public funding institutions. We advocate for changes to policy and practice that enable the conservation strategies we have pioneered to become the new ‘business as usual’. Since 2008 TNC has mobilized over $300 million in European public funding for global conservation, primarily from Germany and Norway. Our team manages active government relationships including in the EU, UK, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain with the goal of positioning critical policy issue as well as accessing Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) funding towards our global work.
