PepsiCo Little Island are hiring a Senior Automation Engineer for a permanent position in Little Island.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day automation and manufacturing support to business users throughout the sites. Focus on streamlining, standardisation and improvement of the functions of these systems in the automation of manufacturing processes.
  • Play a key role in the review, approval and execution process of validation protocols
  • Support capital projects, when assigned, including conceptual design, scope of work, project schedules, and status reports. When appropriate, conducts project design review and/or status meetings for sponsoring departments and management.
  • Development and/or review of URS for process and automation systems.
  • Support IT operations and maintenance groups throughout the organization as an escalation point for technical issues and advice
  • Create and maintain operational as-built documentation for plant control system infrastructure.
  • Through the change control process ensure that changes carried out on the Automation Systems do not compromise the safety, environmental or quality stance of the plant.
  • Manage Change: Manage activities in a change project. Includes engaging stakeholders in the change effort and ensuring they ready to adopt the coming changes, measuring and reporting change progress, assessing business readiness and supporting change adoption. Support workshops and other interventions to promote Change Management initiatives throughout the organization
  • Constantly re-evaluate the automation environment in the context of available technologies to ensure optimal efficiency and functionality through the potential adoption of improved technology solutions
  • Assists in developing standard data structures and methods to support the ongoing integration of plant floor manufacturing control systems.
  • Proposes modifications to systems, equipment, processes and operations to improve safety, increase efficiency and achieve company goals.
  • Liaise with major equipment vendors to ensure compliance to specifications (e.g. attend kick-off meetings, pre-FAT inspections, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree qualified with minimum 5 years process control, PLC / scada, IT architecture and operations experience, with proven track record of design and delivery of high impact technology solutions
  • Experience in Automation Validation in accordance with GAMP and cGMP.
  • Experience in the development of the following would be advantageous: Allen-Bradley PLC’s, Wonderware InTouch, InBatch, InSQL, ASI, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet
  • Ability to build strong relationships with other’s across Pepsico
  • Ability to prioritize goals and objectives
  • Ability to meet established schedules
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work without close supervision in a team based environment are essential for this position
  • High energy level, strong work ethic, and leadership by example
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple high impact projects simultaneously
