    We’re seeking qualified applicants for the Senior Automotive Accountant position. This role plays a vital role in overseeing the financial health of our dealership. This position requires a solid background in automotive dealership accounting and a strong grasp of industry-specific practices and systems. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial records, and delivering timely, insightful financial reports to support management decision-making.
    This role also involves cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring compliance with internal controls, tax regulations, and industry best practices. It’s more than just bookkeeping—it demands strategic thinking, precision, and a deep understanding of dealership operations. Experience with Dealertrack is a strong advantage.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is preferred (Not required).
  • Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the automotive dealership or retail industry.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Software: Proficiency in dealership management software (e.g., DealerTrack, Reynolds & Reynolds) and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, recognize trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with management, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Dealership Operations: A solid understanding of the automotive industry, including vehicle sales, finance and insurance (F&I), and service/parts operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities
  • General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain the dealership’s general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Closings: Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financials are accurate and completed on time.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Analyze these reports and provide explanations for variances and trends.
  • Reconciliation: Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Investigate discrepancies and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections. Manage relationships with vendors and customers to resolve any billing or payment issues.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure proper accounting for vehicle and parts inventories. Work with the inventory management team to ensure accuracy in stock levels and cost accounting.
