Job Description The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer will serve as the technical anchor for SGS’s cloud operations, ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our global Azure environment. Acting as the main point of contact for Cloud activities, this role bridges high‑level architectural design with hands‑on operational excellence. The engineer will be the key escalation point for delivery teams, supporting continuous improvement across cloud governance, automation, observability, and cost optimization. You will join the IT Production team, an internationally distributed organization responsible for managing and supporting SGS cloud services across all global regions. The team ensures reliable, secure, and scalable production operations worldwide and reports to the Global Head of Cloud and Datacenter Services. As part of this global unit, you will help deliver consistent, enterprise‑grade cloud services that support SGS business operations around the world. Responsibilities: Operational Excellence & Documentation Contribute to the 24/7 availability and performance of critical Azure services. Act as Level 3 escalation point for complex incidents, performing deep-dive troubleshooting. Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and processes. Security & Cloud Governance Harden Azure resources and enforce enterprise security standards. Implement governance mechanisms using Azure Policies, Blueprints, and RBAC. Ensure compliance and security alignment across the global cloud environment. Virtualization Technologies Manage large-scale global implementations of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Lead the transition from manual operations to automated, code-driven infrastructure. Design, deploy, and maintain Azure resources using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates. Ensure consistency, version control, and reproducibility across environments. Advanced Observability Design and implement monitoring strategies with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights. Develop proactive alerting systems to detect anomalies before they impact operations. FinOps & Cost Management Support cloud cost optimization initiatives. Implement budget alerts, identify orphan resources, and drive rightsizing opportunities. ITIL Governance Operate within ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management). Ensure production changes are documented, tested, and safely executed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field. Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104). Minimum 5+ years in a similar engineering role; at least 3 years hands‑on with Azure production environments. Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure; AWS knowledge is a plus. Strong knowledge of compute and networking services (VMSS, App Services, VNET peering, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Azure Firewall). Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash). Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for infrastructure deployments. Nice to Have ITIL 4 Foundation. Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ‑400). Required Skills Detail‑oriented, collaborative, and effective in high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environments. Motivated to continuously improve and learn new technologies. Fluent in English. Additional Information Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%) for global projects.
